To install Moodle from Softaculous you must access the cPanel with the data we sent you when you purchased your hosting plan and once inside click on the "Softaculous" icon.

After clicking on the Softaculous icon will take us to a page where we can see everything we can install with Softaculous.

It is possible that the Moodle icon appears among the first ones, but if it does not appear you can do a search in the left side menu.

To install it you only need to click on Install and fill in some information that Softaculous needs:

In the first section of Installation Form it asks us some basic but very simple data to complete.

ATTENTION: If you want to install Moodle in the domain root, for example: www.MiDomino.com, LEAVE THE FIELD "DIRECTORY" BLANK. If you want it in the subdomain choose in the dropdown the subdomain and leave the directory field blank as well.
If yousimply
want to install it in a directory within the domain, fill in the field "Directory".
  • Select Protocol
If we have an SSL Certificate here we can select HTTPS:// protocol instead of the classic HTTP://. If you are a Factoría Digital customer, you will already have the free SSL certificate preinstalled.
  • Domain
Here we only need to choose the domain where we want Moodle to be installed. If we only have one domain in the hosting, only that domain will appear. If you have created subdomains they will appear in this section as well.
  • Directory
Here we decide if we want Moodle to be installed in the root of the domain itself or in a separate directory. If you want users to access Moodle directly, leave it blank. If on the other hand you want it to be installed in a subdirectory of the main page and you want moodle to coexist with the other installation for example MyDomain.com/moodle you must put moodle in this field.
  • Data Directory
In this field we can determine the directory where the moodle data will be stored, we can leave the default field.
  • Scheduled Tasks
We can indicate the frequency with which the Moodle cron tasks will be executed. Ideally we should set it at least every 5 minutes for this we should specify the fields in the following order: */5 * * * *

Administrator Account

In the Administrator Account section we must indicate the access data of the user that will use Moodle. Later you can create more users but this will be the one who will be in charge.

You only have to add a password and an email but here is a tip to avoid making it easy for hackers who want to break into your Moodle:

  • Administrator Password
We recommend you to use combinations of letters, numbers and signs such as drTyP123@@. It is highly recommended that you do so.

Advanced Options

Clicking on Advanced Options will bring up a series of advanced options for our Moodle. If you are interested in any of them, click on the check or select the option from the drop-down menu.

  • Database.
  • Prefix Table.
  • Disable Update Notifications.
  • Automatic Updates.
  • Automatic Backups.
  • Backup Rotation
All these options are configurable later, so if you are not sure what to do, you do not need to modify them to install Moodle.

Install Moodle

The last step is the easiest. Just click on Install and let Softaculous install Moodle on your hosting.

Once the process is finished, a message will appear indicating that Moodle has been successfully installed. In addition, it will return two links:

  • The first one takes us to our Moodle, to how the world will see our page.
  • The second one takes us to the administration panel, where we can enter our data to start setting up our Moodle web page.

The data to be entered will be those previously entered in the USER and PASSWORD boxes.

This completes the installation of Moodle with Softaculous and you can start adding content, links, among others.
